Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the most prominent advancements of technology today, and it is becoming popular, especially in the educational setting. This study aimed to acknowledge the perspectives of teachers on the use of AI in education by using a basic qualitative research design. The researchers used a purposive sampling technique to select five teachers at Bacolod Trinity Christian School as respondents. They were questioned through semi-structured interviews on how they perceive AI, its benefits, applications, challenges, and their future perspectives. To gather data, the interviews were recorded and transcribed. Although the respondents' responses were subjective, common information and valuable data for the study were found. Qualitative Data Analysis was then used to form codes, categories, and concepts to develop themes that satisfy the study’s questions and objectives. The themes found by this study are: (1) The proper use of AI can improve work and learning efficiency, (2) experiences can enhance teachers’ awareness and knowledge of AI, (3) the use of AI raises ethical concerns such as authenticity, integrity, and independence, (4) AI can enhance learning, but it cannot replace the teachers in education, and (5) teachers and students should practice and educate themselves on the responsible use of AI. Each theme was then elaborated and discussed for further understanding to come up with recommendations and a conclusion.
